Reader Rabbit by Broderbund (also known as The Learning Company) comes with two CDs and a set of flashcards. The Print n’Go Activities CD contains 50 printable learning activities that provide practice with writing letters, identifying word families (such as cat, hat and mat), rhyming words and associating pictures with words.

The Print n'Go Activities CD also includes five successive animated and interactive learning activities. The activities are centered on a challenge to the animated characters such as climbing through a maze of pipes to reach the top of a building or playing a basketball game. The student must answer a series of questions correctly to move the characters through the activity and progress to the next (of three) level.

The Great Word Chase Interactive Storybook CD contains an animated and interactive story. However, this CD is not as interactive as the Print n’Go Activities CD. Students can click on letters and words throughout the story, but there isn’t a clear learning objective.

The quality and interactivity of Reader Rabbit is good and students will benefit from progressing through all three levels of each activity; however, the five activities fall far short of the other products we reviewed.
